Master Classes
Master Classes for adult pianists are held 1-2 times a year. Master teachers, i.e., teachers with advanced experience and knowledge, will give an in-depth lesson to each participant at an intermediate or advanced level. The pianist must have one or two pieces ready for the teacher to hear and work on with him or her.
There is a fee for participating in the class. For a modest fee anyone may listen to the lesson. Classes are held at various locations.

DR. STEPHEN PIERCE – Master Class Teacher
South African born pianist, Stephen Pierce enjoys a multi-faceted career as a teacher, presenter, adjudicator, clinician and scholar. At the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, he oversees the secondary piano and keyboard pedagogy programs while teaching applied piano and courses in piano pedagogy and keyboard literature. Stephen also teaches piano privately in Pasadena and at Interlochen Arts Camp, Michigan each summer.
Stephen has performed in the USA, Canada, Czech Republic, and throughout South Africa. He has won prizes and awards including second prize and two special prizes at the University of South Africa (UNISA) National Piano Competition. He also has received awards for his teaching from the UNISA, In addition, his performances have been broadcast on South Africa television and radio.
A regular speaker and clinician throughout the US and South Africa, Stephen has presented master classes, workshops and lectures. He is a proud member of the Royal Conservatory of Music College of Examiners, and MTNA Foundation Fellow, an RCM Certified Teacher, and an RCM Academic Ambassador.
